Cure SMA Unveils Advocacy 101 Video Series in Conjunction with 118th Congress

Individuals with SMA and their families can learn how to advocate with their Members of Congress more effectively on issues important to them and the SMA community in a new advocacy 101 video series.

In conjunction with the new 118th Congress, Cure SMA released a series of short, online videos that provide background on Congress and share tips for engaging Members of Congress through meetings and electronic communications. The videos include backgrounders on Congress, congressional offices, and congressional committees and tutorials on how to send a message to or set up a meeting with specific Members of Congress.

“Federal and state policies impact nearly all aspects of life for individuals and families with SMA, from programs that provide access to healthcare, employment, and community supports to disability laws that govern transportation, education, and housing,” said Maynard Friesz, Cure SMA Vice President for Advocacy. “The Cure SMA video series highlights how important—and easy it is—for every SMA community member to engage and educate their Members of Congress on everyday issues important to them.”
