Cure SMA is calling all future bakers and pastry chefs to help us bake a difference for individuals with spinal muscular atrophy (SMA).
Baking a Difference was created by kids for kids with sweet hearts and a love of sweet treats. From a red wagon selling treats outside a local grocery store to full-fledged enterprise called Cookies4Cures that raised more than $50,000 for Cure SMA over the past three years, Dana Perella and her mom, Alexis, have made it their mission to fund research for a cure.

This year, in partnership with Cookies4Cures, we’re aiming to go bigger than ever! We’re inviting all kids aged 18 and under to bake and fundraise for Cure SMA.
Households that register to participate will receive sweet perks, including:
- A free kit of baking tools and supplies provided by Raddish Kids, the original cooking club for kids and Rubbermaid®
- Invitation to a baking party with the Perellas and Molly Wilkinson, an American baker, pastry chef, cookbook author, and Instagram influencer living in Versailles
- Opportunity to earn exclusive fundraising rewards—t-shirts, chef’s aprons, and chef’s hats
- Offer to send in an original recipe to be featured in a Cure SMA holiday cookbook
Baking a Difference is an excellent opportunity to encourage the next generation of entrepreneurs and philanthropists to give back while earning rewards and having plenty of fun in the name of a worthy cause. Kids can sell treats through fundraisers at school, in clubs or sports teams, in their neighborhoods, or anywhere else they can think of prior to or during the holiday season.
“The hardest and scariest part of getting involved in something like this was getting started,” said Dana. “When I began, I was super shy, and I didn’t even know how to bake. Now, I can make cookies all by myself and give speeches in front of large audiences. Anyone can do it!”
Parents or guardians must register children to participate, and children must be aged 18 or under at the time of registration. Complimentary baking kits are limited to the first 250 participants (one per household) who register, so don’t delay.

We can’t wait to see what you and your kids, grandkids, nieces, or nephews will whip up!
