The 60-minute webinar will be held on Wednesday, October 24 at 2:00 p.m. CDT.
NDEAM is a fantastic opportunity to learn about the experiences of adults living with SMA, as they navigate the successes and challenges of job searches and career paths. SMA is a rare disease that robs people of their strength by affecting the motor nerve cells in the spinal cord. SMA can take away the ability to walk, eat, or breathe but thanks to new treatments and a better standard of care, people with SMA are living longer and stronger. With this in mind, Cure SMA understands the need for more information, services and support for adults living with the disease.
SMA does not affect a person’s ability to think, learn, and build relationships with others. Many adults pursue post-graduate degrees, entrepreneurship, corporate jobs and government work. While adults with SMA face certain challenges when finding jobs, they also have seen major successes in the workplace and add value to any company. Still, the U.S. unemployment rate for people with disabilities was at 7% in the in May 2018.
